We have become very fond of the barren wilderness that is Kessingland Beach. It is a desolate, slightly sinister, neglected place with an exraordinary amount of space.
(Plenty of room to bury a body, and handy cliffs to jump off.)
Beautiful little plants grow among the tufts of Marram; I once came upon the luminous blue leaves of a Sea Holly. And I swear that I saw 2 Puffins fly past.
If they weren't Puffins they must have been Plovers. I looked it up.
When you feel that the bleakness is weighing you down and you are starting to wear too much black, you can head off to Southwold for a bit of light relief.
We had fun, fun, fun, surfing and larking around on the beach. Si did a hilarious new move - we'll call it The Maverick. He got caught up in a wave, twizzled around, did a flip and ended up twitching on the sand with a mouthful of gravel.
Fun had to stop when the weather reasserted itself. We dodged the huge black clouds by sheltering on the pier.
Back to Wobbleswick for yet more crabbing. Daffy caught her first ever real live crab, all on her very own, and called it 'Mrs Green'. Then a walk along the bank, over the bridge to Southwold, and a slap up meal at Mrs T's. We were tired, hungry and after months of anticipation had great expectations - Mrs T did not disappoint.
Fabulous place. Nature reserve on one side, sea on the other.
Quite a walk but totally worth it.
We had a tantalising glimpse of The Old Dead Tree in the next bay, but the tide was crashing against the cliffs, and there was no way that the girls would have made it.
Next time maybe...
Daf got completely absorbed doing the cementing; she would have carried on indefinitely if it weren't for Simon saying 'Hurry up, get that roof on, I want my Irish Stew.'

They really are excellent fish and chips.
And to end the lovely day, a serene float back across the river in the ferry boat.
